Descrição do livro

Everything your finance course actually covers. Nothing it doesn't.

A complete introduction to corporate finance from an author who has spent more than fifteen years teaching this exact course to executive, graduate, and undergraduate students and watching where they get stuck.

Open most introductory finance textbooks and you'll find the concept you need buried under boxed asides, industry profiles, career sidebars, glossy photographs, and dozens of features assigned by no one and read by no one. The core ideas are in there. Finding them is the problem.

This book contains the core ideas and stops. Every chapter exists because the material in it is essential to understanding finance, and every section within it earns its place. When you sit down to study, you're studying — not sorting signal from filler.

How it's different

Concepts are explained before they're formalized, so you understand what a formula is doing before you're asked to use it. Every worked example is done the way you'll be tested — with financial calculator keystrokes and the underlying formulas, step by step, not a spreadsheet you can't reproduce on an exam. Notation stays consistent from chapter one through chapter twelve, so a symbol never quietly changes meaning halfway through the book. The large-format pages give tables, equations, and worked examples room to breathe instead of breaking across pages.

New in this edition

A full chapter on risk management, derivatives, and options contracts — material that used to be an upper-level topic and is now a standard part of the introductory course. Foundational concepts throughout the book have been given more room where students needed it, with additional explanation and more worked examples. A significant number of errors from the prior edition have been corrected.
