Adaptive Observer Theory: Navigation of Incompleteness and Incompatibility (Monograph) (English Edition)

Adaptive Observer Theory addresses a single question: what are the structural constraints on any system that contains observers attempting to describe and act within it?

Part I ("Must Any Consistent Physics Contain Structure Inaccessible to All Internal Observers?") proves that proper-subsystem observers necessarily face structural blind spots — aspects of the system that no internal measurement can access.

Part II ("The Theorem of Incompatible Truths") proves that sufficiently complex systems necessarily admit descriptions that are individually valid but mutually incompatible — they derive contradictory predictions about shared observables.

Part III ("The Pragmatic Synthesis") proves that any viable agent operating under these constraints must possess a specific five-property structure — the navigator — comprising model storage, contextual evaluation, switching, memory, and self-monitoring. These properties coincide with the properties attributed to consciousness in the scientific literature. The navigator is derived as a functional necessity, not postulated as a separate ontological category.

Together, the three articles establish a tripartite viability constraint: persistent complex systems must simultaneously maintain uncertainty, tolerate contradiction, and navigate adaptively. The loss of any dimension leads to collapse.
